This is a new product, how do I know it’s safe?

Balance Activ™ Vaginal Gel is tried and clinically tested. Clinical trials have shown that the product is safe and effective in restoring and maintaining the pH balance of the vagina. This product has been used to redress vaginal imbalance in Sweden since the early 1990’s.

How many tubes do I have to use?

This depends on whether you are using the product to relieve the symptoms, or prevent the symptoms from occurring or recurring. The following table shows how the product should be used:

For Rapid Relief
For the effective relief of embarrassing odour, abnormal discharge and discomfort	Use 1 tube daily for 7 days

Maintenance and Prevention
To maintain the natural pH balance and prevent recurrence of symptoms	Use 1-2 tubes a week
To help maintain the pH level during a course of antibiotics	Use 1 tube daily at the end of the course for 4-5 days
If you notice a recurrence of symptoms around the time of your period	Use 1 tube daily at the end of your period for 1-2 days

Do I have to use all of the contents of the tube?

Yes, you must use the entire contents of the tube. Each tube contains 5ml of Balance Activ™ Vaginal Gel.

I always seem to suffer from embarrassing odour, abnormal discharge and discomfort around the time of my period. Can balance activ vaginal gel help to prevent this?

Yes. If you notice a recurrence of symptoms around the time of your period, then using Balance Activ™ Vaginal Gel for 1 – 2 days towards the end of your period can help to maintain the natural pH and therefore prevent the symptoms from recurring.How many tubes do I have to use?

Every time I take antibiotics I get vaginal discomfort and abnormal discharge. I’d really like to prevent this, can balance activ help?

I still have symptoms after using balance activ for 7 days, what do I do?

There can be other causes of vaginal discharge. If you still experience the same symptoms after using Balance Activ™ as directed for 7 days you should see your doctor.

At what age can I use balance activ?

The symptoms of BV are associated with hormonal changes, such as those experienced during a period, among other things. As soon as a woman starts menstruation, Balance Activ™ is safe to use.

When is the best time to use balance activ?

It is best to use Balance Activ™ at bedtime. It may be helpful to wear a panty liner as it is common to notice slight leakage.

Can I use a tampon with this product?

Balance Activ™ works very well with a tampon, especially at the end of your period when bleeding is light. We recommend you squeeze the contents of the tube onto the end of the tampon before you insert it.

Can I swim or have a bath after applying this product?

We recommend you use Balance Activ™ after swimming or bathing. If you use the product before you swim or take a bath there is a risk that the water could wash some of the product out, making it less effective. The best time to use Balance Activ™ is at bedtime.

I’m pregnant, can I still use balance activ vaginal gel?

Yes, Balance Activ™ vaginal gel is safe to use during pregnancy, however, you should consult your doctor if you have any of the symptoms of a vaginal infection during pregnancy.

I’m breast feeding, can I use balance activ?

Yes, Balance Activ™ is safe to use when breastfeeding.

Some of the gel leaks out, is this normal?

It is common to experience slight leakage; this does not mean the treatment has not worked. It may be helpful to wear a panty liner.

Is balance activ safe to use for more than 7 days?

It is not harmful to use Balance Activ™ for a longer period of time than instructed, however, if you continue to experience any symptoms after 7 days of use we recommend you see your doctor.

I am trying to get pregnant, is it safe to use balance activ?

We recommend that you don’t use it if you are trying to conceive as the gel has a low pH which makes the environment less suitable for sperm. Please note; Balance Activ™ should not be used as a form of contraception.

I am using contraception (e.g. condom, diaphragm, IUD, spermicide, oral contraceptive); will using balance activ reduce its effectiveness?

No, using Balance Activ™ will not reduce the effectiveness of your contraception.

I have been diagnosed with Thrush, can balance activ help?

If you have been diagnosed with Thrush you should use an anti-fungal as balance activ will not get rid of the yeast, Candida, which causes Thrush. Balance Activ™ can be used to maintain vaginal health, helping prevent vaginal infections such as Thrush.

I get a sharp burning sensation when I use balance activ, is this normal?

It is normal to experience a sharp burning sensation when using Balance Activ™ if you have small abrasions in the vaginal tissue (often caused by vaginal infections), however, this sensation is only temporary. If you experience persistent burning sensation you should see your doctor.

I have used balance activ and have noticed that it is out of date, should I be concerned?

You should only use the product when it’s in date. Balance Activ™ does not contain any ingredients that will cause any harm, however, it may become less effective once it’s passed its expiry date.

Where can I find the expiry date of balance activ?

The expiry date is embossed on the bottom of each tube of Balance Activ™. The expiry date is also printed on the carton.

How should balance activ be stored?

Balance Activ™ should be stored at room temperature (2-30°).

How do I dispose of the empty tube?

The empty tube should be disposed of according to the appropriate recycling scheme for your country.
